This rather unique umbrella stand with a country house look and feel to it, probably hails from Italy in the 1960s.
The robust twisted wrought iron "ropes" are accentuated by a middle section of detailed leaves on twigs which seem to grow out of the rope ends - thus marrying the mid-century modern design principles of organic shapes with form and function.
The stand is in good condition and the leaves have maintained their shine while the ropes show some patina which makes a great contrast. Despite its age and use as an umbrella stand there are no holes in the base tray.
While there is no maker's mark, the twisted wrought iron ropes are reminiscent of the Italian designs in the 1960s - albeit maybe a little more Tuscan villa than Venetian palazzo.

Please note:
With a lifetime of stories behind them, our vintage design items come with a bit of character.
Like the best of us, they may have picked up some scratches and scuff marks, acquired patina, and that original shine may have faded a little. And like with most of us, the internal struggles are not always visible to the outside world.
Our second-hand items may not fulfil state-of-the art safety standards and codes in your region. Inner faults may exist that were missed by us. Please always consult with a certified professional before installing any electrical items.
