Atomic Age Chandelier by Kalmar Franken KG, Model RS 14 HL, Austria 1970's

Produced in the early  1970's by Kalmar Franken KG in Austria, this 14-armed chandelier is a retro-futuristic homage to the space age of the 50's with a touch of disco glamour!

Unlike the "Atomic" series, which was produced around the same time and used chrome frames with opaque glass spheres, the "RS" series featured polished aluminum and transparent bubble glass - resulting in a more textured look.

The "RS 14 HL" is suspended from the ceiling canopy by two wires and can be adjusted for height. The chandelier arms are positioned diagonally to the central axis, and 14 light bulbs (E14 40W ) shine from the end of each arm. The bubble glass spheres are hand-blown and have a diameter of 12 cm (4.7 in).

This chandelier is in very good condition with only the slightest signs of its age!

Kalmar's visionary light fixtures are icons of mid-century modern design and the company is recognized to this day for its excellent craftsmanship. This chandelier certainly is part of that heritage!
