When Dior’s celebrated 'Corolle line', later to be know as the ‘New Look’, debuted in Paris in 1947, it brought back the style of the pre-war years. And his ensembles, like the iconic Bar Suit, would often feature matching gloves.
We love this slender advertising bust for gloves, as it captures the elegance of the Dior Y-line evening gowns (some of which were incidentally designed by Yves St. Laurent when working at the house of Dior). Here the face rests in long-gloved hands almost providing the silhouette of an evening dress. The right glove is stamped with 'Christian Dior'.
Separating this particular statue from others on the market is the exceptionally well executed hand-painted taint and make-up on the face.
Made from plaster and hand painted, this sculpture is in good condition with some minor signs of its age like tiny paint chips and a few minor scratches around the base (as documented in the pictures).
This truly decorative piece of mid-century advertising with links to one of the most iconic fashion houses of that period, will be an eye-catching delight in dressing rooms, walk-in wardrobes and boutique shops alike

With a lifetime of stories behind them, our vintage design items come with a bit of character.
Like the best of us, they may have picked up some scratches and scuff marks, acquired patina, and that original shine may have faded a little. And like with most of us, the internal struggles are not always visible to the outside world.
Our second-hand items may not fulfil state-of-the art safety standards and codes in your region. Inner faults may exist that were missed by us. Please always consult with a certified professional before installing any electrical items.
