Gilded Umbrella Stand / Waste Paper Basket by Li Puma Firenze, Italy, 1950's Hollywood Regency

Well proportioned and in good condition, this gilded umbrella stand was made in Florence, Italy, some time in the 1950's by the celebrated furniture maker Li Puma. 

Known for their distinctive, Hollywood Regency style pieces, this umbrella stand features their typical twisted rope and tassel design around on a perforated cylinder.

Consistent with its age and use, this umbrella has acquired a lovely patina while retaining is gilded shine with only a few faded spots - most notably, the the gilt has worn off a little, where the upper "rope" overlaps above the tassels. The base, while a little rusty on the inside, has no holes despite being exposed to some rain water over the past 70 years. Please refer to photos.

With its elegant, understated decorations this umbrella stand will serve its new home well for many years to come, adding a touch of Italian chic to its new residence.
