We are fascinated by Hans-Agne Jakobsson’s ability to maintain simple lines in such an intricate swirling design! Molding pine wood veneer into this elegant and organic shape, showcases Jakobsson’s skills, both as visionary designer as well as master craftsman.
Clearly influenced by the aesthetics of the "Organic Modern" movement championed by Poul Henningsen and Alvar Aalto, this almost onion-shaped pendant lamp in onion-brown is an eye-catching marvel.
Jakobsson was known for his innovative use of materials to achieve a soft, non-glaring illumination: when lit, the overlapping veneer slats allow the light to glow through the gaps and create a geometrical pattern at the intersections of the slats.
Highly sought after by collectors of Scandinavian Modern designs, this rather substantial light fixture is in very good condition with only a few signs of its age:
At very close inspection some of the veneer slats show slightly brittle at the edges with no impact on the structure nor on the visual appearance. The knotted natural fiber string wrapping around the cable in the form of a double-helix shows some signs of its age.

Please note:
With a lifetime of stories behind them, our vintage design items come with a bit of character.
Like the best of us, they may have picked up some scratches and scuff marks, acquired patina, and that original shine may have faded a little. And like with most of us, the internal struggles are not always visible to the outside world.
Our second-hand items may not fulfil state-of-the art safety standards and codes in your region. Inner faults may exist that were missed by us. Please always consult with a certified professional before installing any electrical items.
