This well proportioned and elegant wall mirror was designed by Czech-born and Munich based designer Ernest Igl and manufactured by the German lighting company Hillebrand in the early 1960s.

The design is most reminiscent of the works of French designer Mathieu Mategot and the perforated and off-white lacquered wings on the sides glow beautifully when illuminated  - creating an elegant effect and throwing patterns to the surroundings.

The mirror glass is held in place by two brass brackets which gives the mirror pane a floating appearance. A pull-cord switch on the bottom end is used to turn the lights on and off.

The mirror is wired for two fluorescent tubes and still has its original interior fixing including the Plathner transformer (interestingly not showing the VDE mark, indicating that it was from the 1960's).

Apart from a few scratches at the bottom end of the mirror glass and a metal brass added to the back where the original wall mounting seems to have come off, this mirror is in very good condition and will add a touch of Mid-Century Modern elegance to its new home!
