Large Carved Wood Pineapple Table Lamp in Black and Gold, France, early 20th Century

This glamorous table lamp with a carved wooden body in the shape of a pineapple probably hails from France in the early half of the last century.

Raised on a square base and decorated in black and gold this rather large light fixture exudes sophisticated confidence. The pineapple crown consist of gilt metal leaves from which the central rod rises culminating in a flower calyx holding the lightbulb socket.

Overall in good condition, the metal parts of this lamp have acquired a graceful patina. Not surprising given its age, there are some minor spots where the paint has flaked off and the red undercoat is showing through - adding to the lamp's vintage appeal.
