Pair of Large Barovier & Toso Primavera Table Lamp, Italy, 1970s
Pair of Large Barovier & Toso Primavera Table Lamp, Italy, 1970s
This exclusive pair of urn shaped table lamps was hand crafted by Barovier & Toso, one of the oldest family businesses in the world. Founded in 1295 and based in Murano, Italy, the company is synonymous with world-renowned Venetian glass design.
The mouth-blown lamps are made from milky white glass with some darker swirls giving them an almost marble like appearance which is accentuated by the black and gold-speckled trims.
These handmade lamps are in excellent condition and one still carries the original Barovier & Toso sticker confirming their provenance.
Please note, we also have matching set of wall lights in our shop!
These lamps come with their original European 2-pin plug and are designed for standard E27 light bulbs.
As the glass is mouth blown the are minor variations in the sizes:
Lamp 1:
Height: 30cm
Diameter Top: 28cm
Diameter bottom: 20cm
Lamp 2:
Height: 29cm
Diameter Top: 27cm
Diameter bottom: 20cm
On Primavera:
In 1930 the critically acclaimed Ercole Barovier produced his award-winning “Primavera” series:
"The Primavera series ... is distinguished by a milky white 'craquelé' glass with the addition of black or blue pasta vitrea trim ("opaque colored glass whose consistency is made to appear like transparent marble ") and decoration. There was a very limited production of this series due to the fact that it was a result of a glass mixture obtained accidentally so it could never be replicated."
