Teak & Cane Armchair FD186 by Arne Vodder for France and Daverkosen, 1950s
Teak & Cane Armchair FD186 by Arne Vodder for France and Daverkosen, 1950s
This attractive armchair by Danish furniture manufacturer France & Daverkosen hails from the mid-1950s and is a most comfortable and charming seating option.
Designed by the leading Danish Designer Arne Vodder this model FD186 consists of a teak frame and arm rests with a Viennese style woven cane back and a leather seat.
The chair still has the original maker's mark which dates it to the mid-50's and no later than 1956 as the company was re-named to France & Søn in 1957.
This chair was recently faithfully restored by a master craftsman with great attention to maintaining the chairs character. All structural issues were addressed and the chair is now in great condition. An unknown person added a cross-rail in the past - presumably for structural reasons - and it was decided the leave this cross rail in place to honor the chair's legacy - though it can be removed without any impact on the chair's structure.
The leather seat has acquired a appealing patina, adding to its endearing character.
